In December 2018, I attended a lecture by Dr. Jagannath Dixit at Shanmukhananda Hall in Matunga, Mumbai.
Before attending that lecture, I had diabetes for about 8 years. At the time of diagnosis, my HbA1c was 10.5% and my weight was 96 kg. Over time, my diabetologist gradually increased the dose of metformin. In December 2018, when I started the dietary regimen, my HbA1c was slightly above 6%, my weight was 84 kg, and my waist circumference was 99 cm. Before starting this diet, I had consulted my diabetologist, and he fully supported me in this journey.
The first two weeks were challenging, as I was accustomed to eating something every two hours. After that, I began following two meals a day and regularly did 45 minutes of brisk walking. Along with this, I started practicing yoga, especially Ardha Matsyendrasana. To make it more convenient and to maintain the routine, my wife also joined me in this dietary regimen. She benefited as well, as she was borderline diabetic at that time and was able to avoid diabetes.
Within about a month, my weight gradually began to decrease. At one point, I was concerned that my weight was dropping too much, but it stabilized at 77 kg, which was appropriate according to my BMI (my height is 183 cm). My waist circumference also stabilized at 91.4 cm. After about a month of observation, I started reducing the dose of metformin, and within 6 months (during which insulin resistance and HbA1c were checked twice), I completely stopped all diabetes medications.

Now, for the past 6 years, I have not taken any medications, and my HbA1c has consistently remained between 5.5% and 5.7%. I undergo regular check-ups every 3–4 months. Whenever I eat something different, I check my blood sugar at home using a glucometer. This gives me confidence and helps me understand what and how much is suitable for me. During festivals or special occasions, I occasionally eat sweets in very limited quantities, which does not affect my HbA1c. However, I am fully aware that maintaining this lifestyle lifelong is essential.
I sincerely thank Dr. Veda Nalawade and Nilesh Pawar for guiding me on this journey to freedom from diabetes.
I am deeply grateful to Dr. Jagannath Dixit for his effective guidance and advice that helped me reach my current state. My wife has played a very important role in my success, and I thank her as well.
